May 27, 2020—Based on input gathered in GSCA's recent survey, conversations with
industry stakeholders, and the likelihood that large gatherings may not
be permitted yet in September, the GSCA Board has voted to cancel the
in-person conference this year, previously scheduled for September 21-24
in Chicago. We do not make this decision lightly, but the safety of our
members is our top priority. Instead, we are planning a virtual event
for fall 2020 (spring for our members in the Southern Hemisphere). Dates
and other details will be announced as they are confirmed.
May 26, 2020—IMAX invites you to join in cheering on the launch of
the Crew Dragon and docking with the International Space Station.
Celebrate the return to human spaceflight with Astronaut Terry Virts (A
Beautiful Planet) and Producer/Director Todd Douglas Miller (Apollo 11)
along with David Keighley, IMAX friends and filmmakers on May 27 and 28.
May 20, 2020—Thom Benson has been named vice president and chief communications and marketing officer at the
Tennessee Aquarium. Benson, formerly communications manager at the aquarium, had been selected to fill the role on an interim basis in January when Cindy Todd announced her decision to leave the Aquarium to pursue a
role as a marketing consultant for regional nonprofits. Benson's position was made
permanent this week.

From The Verge.com: Movie theaters across the country are closed, but some drive-ins are seeing a resurgence in the wake of social distancing practices. Now, Tribeca Enterprises (the company behind the Tribeca Film Festival), IMAX, and AT&T are partnering to bring a summer movie series to as many drive-in theaters as possible in the US. The series will use IMAX’s digital remastering process to enhance both the image and sound quality of the films that play in drive-in theaters. Read the full article here.

May 4, 2020—On the morning of May 1, 2000, the Science Centre (then
called Centre ISci) opened its doors in the Old Port of Montréal. Its
exhibits introduced visitors to science via a novel interactive approach
that would become the Centre's trademark. More than 13,300,000 visitors
later, the Centre's team continues to pursue new opportunities,
including an interactive hall for toddlers, which will open next year,
and provide science activities for the public to do at home.
