Solarmax
Chronicling the quest for knowledge about Earth's closest star, Solarmax takes audiences on a journey from the first known solar explorers at Newgrange, Ireland, more than 5300 years ago up to today's cutting edge solar exploration. Audiences see the sun through the x-ray eyes of the TRACE satellite and through spectacular real-time images taken from SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory).
The title refers to the 11-year cycle of maximum solar activity, in which sunspots, solar flares, and other phenomena are more frequent and more intense. |
