Island Child
Island Child is an exploration of the marvelous cultural diversity of Indonesia as seen through the eyes of its children. Beginning with the birth of a child in the dense rainforest of Kalimantan, each scene introduces us to a different culture and a slightly older child. The contrast of the cultures we experience is fascinating, but it is the similarities, the universal dreams, struggles and triumphs shared by all societies, that are inspirational. The film is the second film for the Yayasan Harapan Kita Foundation, an Indonesian cultural institution founded by its first lady, Madam Tien Soeharto, and was premiered at the Jakarta Keong Emas Theatre. |
